Dear members,

I hope i'm in the right forum, excuse me if i'm not.

I want to make sure my websites are not linking to sites that have a penalty. I check this by copying the domain name WITHOUT the extention in to Google (.nl and .be). If the website name without the extention is not showing up in the first 20 results i assume it has a penalty and i want to delete the link to this website.

Before i make a big mistake by doing this, can anyone please let me know if this is the right way to do so?

Thank you so much in advance.

I'd say that's probably too strict a test. Depending on the specific domain name, there can be a lot of competition and you'll get a false positive. Better to do a search search WITH the TLD "example.com", and then look for a #1 ranking.

Unless you keep linking to really bad websites all the time there is nothing wrong with linking to penalized sites. What if a site is great today and you link to it and 3 months later it is penalized?
