New Blog - No Longer Indexed In Google

I started a new blog last week on blogger. Almost immediately I was able to search for the name and found around 10 pages that were indexed right away. This is with pretty much 0 traffic. Later in the week I registered a domain for the blog and used blogger' settings to set it up. Everything appears to be set up correctly so it is just one page pointing towards my domain and not the blogspot url...

Within the last few days, after setting up the domain, I receive NO results for the webpage. I can search for the current domain name, the page title, individual articles, or the previous blogspot url, but I still do not find any indexed pages.

Was this reset due to my setting up the domain? How long will it take to get back indexed?... since I did at first at an amazingly fast pace and 0 traffic at the time..

Thanks.

This happens in the first couple weeks. Most blogs see indexing return rather quickly, especially if they continue to develop the blog and especially as they attract backlinks.

Yes, setting up a dedicated domain might put a bump in the road - but not for long, if you've done it correctly.

Thanks for the reply. Any reason why my indexed pages are gone now? Is it due to setting up the domain?

Can anybody confirm that I set it up right through blogger? What I did was go to Publishing > Advanced settings and then put in the domain name while clicking the box to redirect the url without www in front to the url with www in front. It also says below that:

http://"myurl".blogspot.com will redirect to your custom domain.

I also went to the domain hosting service and setup CNAME to ghs.google.com.

Everything works fine as far as going to the site, but I just want to make sure that it is set up correctly to get noticed by Google et al since the site was indexed before switching from the blogspot.com name to the domain.

Thanks!

From your report, it sounds like you did everything properly. However, you just changed your domain name and that is not an instant procecss with Google.

In the Hot Topics area [webmasterworld.com], which is always pinned to the top of this forum's index page, you will see some threads about the challenges established domains go through when the move to a new domain.

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate the replies.

So, now it is just a matter of waiting for the spiders to get back to my page again... Any suggestions on expediting this process?

And, just because I am curious, how was my blog, with no incoming links or traffic, capable of getting indexed so quickly at first?

Blog software usually "pings" Google directly for any new post. That's how Google knows so fast.

Any suggestions on expediting this process?

Essentially develop a good quality blog so you build your subscriber base and attract backlinks. There are lots of ways available to promote blogs Directory submissions, making useful comments on other related blogs and linking from your blog to other bloggers are all good steps.

The topic goes way beyond the Google Search forum's scope to discuss, but there is plenty of information available on the web about blog promotion - just have a look around and you'll soon have more ideas than you can possibly handle.
