Recently I've purchased a domain that is listed in yahoo directory but does not have a website.

Few years ago this domain was developed and has strong backlinks. The domain has been parked for about a year.

Now since I've purchased the domain I've developed a website (1 month already) but the domain name has not been picked up by Google. I mean its not in the google index yet. I've tried adding a few new links and submitted a sitemap to google webmaster but that didn't help.

My question is why is it taking so long for the domain to appear in Google index. I see no information when I do a site: search

It's possible that a manual ban is flagged on the domain name. Have you checked to see if the domain has a shady past?

Sometimes a saved version of the site at archive.org can give you a clue, or you can see something from the legacy backlinks. If you suspect that this is the issue, use the Reconsideration Request in Webmaster Tools to explain the situation.

Nope, the domain seems to be perfectly fine in the past. Anyway, I've send the reconsideration request. Will let you know again about the progess.

Thank you.
