Twice today I've seen stumbleupon ratings attached to sites in the google serps. Anyone else seeing this? Any speculation on the significance. Frankly, I think its assinine.

That sounds more like Stumbleupon's Search Reviews [blog.stumbleupon.com] toolbar feature, rather than anything Google would be doing. If you have the SU toolbar installed, check to see whether you have SearchReviews turned on.

Thanks for the input Ted. Yes, I have the toolbar. Visually, it really looks like the stumbleupon info is part of my google search results. Is the toolbar simply fetching the information and building it into what the browser displays as my visibile google search results? Or does this imply some level of cooperation between stumbleupon and google for those who have the stumbleupon toolbar installed?

I'm pretty sure it's the first case - that's all it takes and many browser add-ons perform various "enhancements" to the Google Search results. I've never read anything about a partnership or intentional collaboration between the two.
