Hi All,

Recently one of my websites is facing a crawling issue.
The pages that ends with index.html google is showing those pages without index.html.
For eg: abc.com/def/ghi/index.html is now cached as abc.com/def/ghi/
Recently I have submitted sitemap.xml in google webmaster tool and after that this problem has started occuring.
Could that be the reason.

Please let me know if anyone else is facing this issue or not and what could be the possible reason and solutions.

Thanks

Hello Dreamy, and welcome to the forums.

Does your server resolve the urls when "index.html" is not included? Most servers will, and without special care, you can end up with a duplicate url problem.

There is an entire section about this kind of thing in the Hot Topics [webmasterworld.com] area, which is pinned to the top of this forum's index page.
