One darn problem directory - G just won't index it!

I added about 10 pages into a directory dedicated to a subject that's much in the news these days. The root site is about 15 years old, and has always ranked between good and fair for dozens of terms. The root site is a conglomeration of directories/pages/content of about 6 unrelated topics that have a single unifying thread which is related to the site's primary theme. (To illustrate, think of a site on news, with sub-directories of many different subjects.)

My problem is that G just won't index these pages. I've added other content since this one, and there's been no problem. I have no history of trouble getting indexed or ranked by G.

Its been about 10 weeks.

My G-tools pages report no problems for this directory, or for the site in general. I've got a few links (on-site and off-site) pointing toward it, but to no avail.

Any ideas what I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance.

I'd start with your server logs - is googlebot spidering those urls and if so, what response is it getting. Don't trust Webmaster Tools to give an accurate report - sometimes you get real gold in there, but sometimes it's quite buggy.

Thanks, Tedster.

I don't see the bot requesting these urls. Any ideas how I might force the issue?

You could try directly submitting the urls (shudder) or including them in a sitemap. I'd also say check for the last spidering and caching of pages that link to the new urls - maybe that's where the sticking point is.

Just for anyone encountering the same problem, here's what worked for me: delete the site from your G-map records and then reinstall it.

Can't say this was the fix for sure, but it worked for me in 3 days. Coincidence? Perhaps. Give it a try anyway.
