The Google UK search engine always seems to be 4-8 weeks behind any index, backlinks, algorithm etc. changes that happen to their main Google.com website. Results, whether commercial or non-commercial, are always either spammy or old.

For example, in Webmaster Tools it is showing the 301s we did a few weeks ago as being indexed properly. In a .co.uk search still no changes to the URL that shows OR the backlinks to that page.

All the news data seems to be from India or the US, we don't have our own country specific news search.

One of my site's has been No.4 on the .com for a month now ... still 194 for Web searches on the .co.uk

I know we're a small country but I keep getting the feeling that the UK is now an afterthought to Google's plans. So many countries to conquer that Google is starting to ignore those they have already subdued? I guess they're just lucky that Brits take forever to change their habits ... Google.co.uk results have been bad for a long time and friends are always complaining (I don't quite know what they expect me to do about it?) yet when I ask why they don't use MSN or Yahoo they say "habit".

Now that Google has their sights on places like China and India should smaller countries just resign themselves to the fact that we are no longer important?

It does seem that google.co.uk lags in many ways - but so do many other Google ccTLDs. At least you've got a dedicated country TLD for the UK - google.us just redirects to.com, so there's no way I know of to confine a search only to "pages from the US."

Ah, but are any of the "left behinds" from high population/new target countries? I've never heard such said about China and India. If your population doesn't have more than eight figures are you not a priority anymore?

so there's no way I know of to confine a search only to "pages from the US.

I would have assumed that due to the size and scope of the US that such would be un-neccessary. On any English language search engine US sites are always going to have more backlinks, competition and SEO work. Also due to the size and county differences would local search not be the priority rather than a nationwide facility?
