Sitemap Question - multiple blogs on one domain

If for example I am running wordpressMu or an other platform that offers multiple blogs on one domain what is best practice when it comes to your sitemap? Is it ok for each domain to run it's own map and to ping the engines daily, can anyone see any obvious problems that this may cause?

Yes, it is OK to have more than one sitemap for a given domain root. I haven't heard of any problems,as long as each sitemap is in the same main directory as the files it reports to Google.
