Webmaster Tools Empty Redirects

I have a phpbb forum on my site which I have disabled (but kept the posts on).

However, I noticed that a lot of the links were showing as empty redirects on webmaster tools (something that I hadn't noticed before). I therefore, removed all links to these pages throughout the forum.

However, webmaster tools, still shows 250+ empty redirects that it had found a couple of weeks back. Does it take a while for these to clear or could it still be following those empty redirects from somewhere that I can't find?

Yes, there can be (a sometimes extended) delay in updating the Webmaster Tools reports. The data can also be buggy at times.
