Is Google "cache" always representative of most recent page indexed ?

Hi all,

Quick Question - if I click on the "cache" link for an entry for an indexed page returned in the Google SERPs, is this "cache" version (and the page that is displayed) always representative of the current version that Google has indexed and uses for its basis of ranking ?

I guess what I'm trying to ask is if the "Cached" page is older than what Google uses for this indexed page, when it comes to ranking and such ?

Thanks in advance !

Yesterday I changed the title and description of a page and today I see the google search result shows the new title and description. Although the page was last cached 8 days ago.

Is google showing search result from the original page content now?

The cached page and its date are not necessarily in synch with either the title or the snippet - or even the ranking calculation that decided the position of the page in the results.

These parts of a url's listing do line up eventually, but Google builds the pieces through separate processes and then assembles them for any search. The snippet can also be different for different queries, and may not even be your meta description in every situation.
