Hi,

I did the google site:www.mysite.com thing and it only shows 2 pages linking to my website. I know for a fact i have many more from websites i have built and have been in built for over a year. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know why this might be? I am trying to get links to my site but cant get by this stumbing block.

Gavin

The site: prefix only shows the pages of your site indexed- nothign about pages linking to it.

As has been mentioned many times, Google's link: prefix does not show the full set of pages linking to your. Use Google's Webmaster Tools instead.

I assume you mean that you used the link: operator, not the site: operator, right?

At any rate, the link: operator on Google only shows a small sampling of the total backlinks that Google knows about. More information is available about this here: Google link: operator FAQ [webmasterworld.com], a thread that is easily accessible through the Hot Topics area [webmasterworld.com], which is always pinned to the top of this forum's index page.

If you set up a Webmaster Tools account, you will see a much bigger sample of your links, but it will still not be complete.

That makes two votes for the same advice!>
