Google indexing with a .eu domain

We have a number of sites which all follow a similar format, and most of our results return on page 1-3 of google.

However we now have site with a .eu domain (others are .co.uk or .com).

The site was last scanned 28th January and in google the description is showing the hosting service's holding page information which tells me google still thinks the site hasn't got any content.

I've looked at the stats in google tools and it has 1 error which is that /defaultsite has a 404 error (we don't have /defaultsite)

Could this be causing the problem and why google hasn't scanned the site since January ?

All our other sites following the same format are crawled frequently I would say every 2 weeks on average.

Any advice on how I can bump this site up ? The content is updated on a daily basis.

Thanks in advance

K

Hello kegan5, and welcome to the forums.

First, don't have any worries about the .eu domain - Google does not use the TLD (top level domain) "extension" as a ranking factor. The big factor is backlinks from other domains. Nothing can help a site more, assuming everything on-page and on the server is sound.

However, you may want to check into how technically sound the DNS settings are for this particular domain --just to be sure that everything is OK. It seems odd that googlebot would ask for a non-existent url before caching the home page.

I would suggest you check your server logs as well, and not just depend on Webmaster Tools reports. Your server is the best record of what googlebot is actually experiencing. Webmaster Tools can get buggy, and updating delays also happen. Also consider adding an xml sitemap for Google.

Regarding the sitemap here, google required it to sit in the root of the domain however as there are 100+ websites the server is set up in a folder structure i.e. inet..../agents/abc Where abc is the agents id code.

For each site map I upload the url would be domain.com/agent/abc

Is there a way for google to allow this with the site maps ?
