I changed the page title, but Google hasn't acknowledged this

A few weeks ago I changed the page title and meta description for a few pages on my site, but Google hasn't reflected these changes on it's end yet. Does Googlebot not interpret a new page title and meta description as significant enough of a change to update it's data? I want to assume that Googlebot is just taking it's time. But I wanted to confirm this.

A few weeks does seem like a long time - but it certainly has been a busy time for Google, so they might be lagging. Yes, especially title changes are important. Snippet changes are on their own independent schedule.

By any chance do you have a DMOZ entry that also uses the old title?

It can take several weeks or more for some changes to appear. Has Google actually spidered that page? Allow at least a few days after spidering for changes to register.

If the page is a Supplemental Result, the update may take a lot longer, and if you have Duplicate Content issues, the new content may already be indexed, but at a different URL to the one that you expected it to be.

If it's an old page that doesn't change often it might not get crawled that fast, especially if it's a couple clicks or more from the homepage. I just checked an old stable page of mine and it was last cached on Jan 25.

At least that's been my experience.

I recently posted about this myself:

Lot of good information there, about cache date, and having both titles listed at the same time, different positions though..
