Please help me out...! How to achieve a good SERP (in Google) for tough and highly competitive keywords? Though I'm applying all the conventional methods but its not gaining upto my desired positions. For eg: when i started optimizing the keywords, it was in 1000 after 3 weeks it was in 100 again this week its moved out from 100 to 200 positions. In this way its keep fluctuating the positions. So kindly suggest me some good "White Hat" seo methods to optimize the keywords. Awaiting eagerly for your expert suggestions. Thanx in advance.

Without knowing exactly what your site is doing and the KW that you are optimizing for I an only offer the basic information.

Google likes quality visitor content, make sure to give value to your visitor with your kw... Don't just focus on one word, focus on the entire experience. Build the page so that the visitor can easily navigate the page as well a search engine robot will also be able to collect the information and archive it correctly.

If you were 100 and you are now 200 you may have hit a penalty, but again not sure without a full review. Have you submitted your site for a site review? [webmasterworld.com...]

Have your conventional methods included attracting lots of links? Esepcially for highly competitive searches, lots of backlinks are essential.

Make sure several pages on your website focus on that term or similar terms so google will know that your whole site is focused on that theme, i.e. blue widgets, How to make your own blue widgets, Testimonials on people who bought blue widgets, etc.

in my point of view you can get visitors by using cold keywords, as most of the times hot keywords are not doing what you are looking for. There could be many reasons that may affect over search engine ranking. Following are the points you make sure:

Research on your competitors websites.
Keep doing the same what your competitors are about.
Do more keyword research and find the keywords with less competetion but can fulfill your desires (you can use singular and prular technique, e.g. widget remodeling, widgets remodeling)
Keep doing research on Google for better contents those are fimilar to your keywords.

thanks
