Is this normal? If I search for my company on Google.com and type search phrase "A" I get a title that is just the just the company name and the page description tag. Amother search for a relevant service returns the actual homepage title tag. Is this normal?

This is normal if your title and description don't contain the search terms contained in search phrase "A," but they do for phrase "B."

Are you by any chance listed in DMOZ? Google will often return the DMOZ title when the page title doesn't fit your query.
