I have this doubt that at least Google or other search engines are configured to automatically index the new blogs created in popuplar blog sites like wordpress, and blogspot or we have to add the blog link somewhere manually?

recently i checked and found that blog is listed in yahoo and altavista...the subject is not at all objectionable ...i do check the index status in google by query "site:example.com" and "example.com" as well ...i have put the third party traffic counter code into my pages but i dont expect any referral so soon as they are not listed in google....

abhishekkaushik,
have you opened a Google Webmaster Tools account and checked the blogs there? Not sure if you can verify these third party blogs.

Sometimes, Google does not spit our the correct information for site:... and link:... . I recently had my blog with PR4 on the home page disappear form the page rank roster and from the link:... command. But webmaster tools did still show external links (although often they include internal links) and I still got traffic from Google (almost all my traffic). After about four weeks the PR of the blog returned as well as some link:... results. The PR is now 5 and the link:... shows about half of the number than before. Go figure.

I recently set up a blog for someone on a new domain - no incoming links at all. Independently hosted using wordpress software.
Within 12 hours all the major engines etc were crawling it to death.
I presume the wordpress software pings all sorts - also does the RSS do something.

Whatever it is lots of bots hit them before any incoming links land - even when you use your own hosting

abhishekkaushik, in your question to phantombookman, did you mean to say how do you, abhishekkaushik, get such information because you don't have access to the logs?

abhishekkaushik,
no, that is one of the downsides of free service. You depend on other people resources and you might loose your blog and other goodies at any time.
