Google and Wikipedia

For so many search terms, Google always seems to give preference to Wikipedia, even when the article isn't very good. I realize this is probably because Wikipedia is one of the top 10 sites in terms of traffic.
Anyone think this will change, with Google thinking about starting its own encyclopedia (and getting some smug comments on that from the Wiki folks) and Wikipedia talking about doing search?

It's more likely that wiki is one of the top 5 sites in terms of links.

Google does not base its algo on traffic. If they did that, they have to promote all those alexa users with repetitive strain injury. ;)
