Can .eu websites do well in Google?

Hi all!

I was wondering if google had a preference over which domain extension it prefers. I have noticed that some .eu websites have got into the google serps and are ranking well for some good terms.

Is it possible that a .eu domain can do well in google? or is that only .com or .co.uk are better to work with.

Thanks.

Thanks for the response.

I am sorry but that still does not answer my original question.

can .eu sites do well in google if the site has good backlinks, good original content everyday, good seo techniques and no canonical issues on the domain.

Thanks in advance.

OK I will try to explain further.

The thrust of the other thread was that TLD's almost certainly have no effect on Google ranking. People who say that they do generally do not consider the fact that there are far more .coms, etc. than anything else.

Taking your .eu example, the majority of people who purchased these domains when they were released did so because they already held the .com, .co.uk and other variations. Others bought them "in case" they needed them in future or because they thought they could sell them on.

Many of them are just parked or have redirects on them hence their apparent absence from the results. The smart money is on the TLD not being a consideration in Google.

Undoubtedly since I have several ranking at #1 along with .cn, .in, .it, .com.br etc, it's the quality of the site, the relevance of the information and that it is of genuine interest to visitors.
