Ok guys....

Say I have a site that sells widgets, and then I have multiple forums:

Forum #1 All about Widgets Manufactured by Company A
Forum #2 All about Widgets Manufactured by Company B
Forum #3 All About Widgets Manufactured by Company C

and so on (about 30 different forums)

if I have a link from each of these different forums (header of each one) to the ecommerce site selling widgets...

Each website is legitimate, each website has unique content, and each deserves it's own domain.

I also wanted to create a master site that says "these are our websites" and has a link to each of them with a description about what each one is about.

is this ok? I shouldn't get penalized/banned/spam for this right?

Please offer your feedback. Thank you guys!

Here's one way Google might look at this: Does the new site have significant unique content and value on its own - enough to make it worth its own spot in the search results?

That judgement would most likely include the strength of the backlink profiles for all the domains, a profile that most likely cannot be faked. I think your idea is risky to all your domains unless the existing forums are REALLY strong. And if they are strong, then why take any risk at all?

If you want to put up the master domain as a service to your users, then I'd suggest using robots.txt to block indexing of the new domain. My opinion here is admittedly conservative, and other members may be more adventurous.
