News and Articles Submitted to Google Base

Are they of any value?

I recently opened a Google Base account, and noticed the option to submit links to news and articles.

Since I have a fair number of well-written articles on my site, I added two of them to the News and Articles category.

I'm just wondering if these have any value for SEO, or if it's simply building Google's own content.

Google's information [base.google.com] is not very illuminating about the question and I have no experience with this. Since you've already submitted a few articles, I'd be very interested in what you see.

Maybe someone will read this thread who has some experience, too. Would love to hear some reports.
