Duplicate content on auto sitemap?

Search box duplicates results.

Hi,
My site had about 1700 products and I've recently changed my sitemap generator from a category/product list to a stand alone application.

It has indexed nearly 500 extra pages that emerge, (I think) from various search combinations from my search product form.

Will these be seen as duplicate content?

I also redirect unknown URL's to index via a statement in .haccess, can't this also bee seen as duplicate?

Yes, if these extra sitemap URLs resolve, they will be duplicates and Google will filter out the ones they choose. It sounds like there's something wrong in your url structure you should uncover and fix for best results.

When a url is not found, make sure your server returns a 404 status whether you serve a custom error page or the default. Otherwise you can have a major problem build up over time.

Thanks for that..
Now found the cause, after going over the sitemap.

It was empty results from empty shopping cart displays and product reviews requests. (The auto sitemap application trying every link available).

I just hand edited the XML file.

Lets hope Google knows the difference from an empty review/shopping cart and duplicate pages! Reckon so..

Maybe I make sure somehow...(Title change)..
