I'm still a newcomer webmaster compared to most here, but I know enough to be dangerous! ;-)
I have a dilemma, and all the research in the world doesn't seem to help me.
I position very well for my chosen key phrases for most all search engines (within top 3 listings - 1st page), EXCEPT for google. The same key phrase in Google at one point got to page 6, but then dropped back to page 35 (using one keyphrase) and page 15 using the other (for 2 years now).
I have competitors with little to no content (some with 1 page)no PR (or pr1), sites just created and they rank on page 1 or 2 in Google using the same key phrases (and I have more inbound keyword rich links than they do). They don't rank so well in other search engines as I do.
Please explain to me what I may be missing.
I wonder if I am doing a lil SEO that Google hates and the others search engines like?
I created the site 2 years ago for my biz and have a PR3 in Google (just poor serps in Google).
Any help and/or advice is greatly appreciated.

You are probably using the keywords for your page Title and URL and that is why you show up first on MSN and other search engines. That is not enough for Google!
And you are probably not getting enough traffic from them and that is why you are concerned. ; )
There is much more competition for google and I don’t think you can fix your SERP in a few days.
To make Google happy you need a lot of back links!
Good luck.
I said 'some' other sites position on the 1st or second page that are brand new, with absolutely no back links whatsoever and no PR.
I have approximately 100 backlinks, and 50+ pages indexed, and I rank very well on all search engines EXCEPT for google.
Sites created literally last week, just having the keywords in the title and /or URL with no page rank at all (poorly designed one page sites also), rank on page 1 or 2 in google for [competitive keyword phrase] .. yet dont rank near as well on the other engines.
I understand there is A LOT of competition .. I agree. But there is not as much for this particular phrase.
I think in my case I may have overused the keyword in question, and Google sees that as spam perhaps.
Also I must add I didnt position well on any seach engines until I applied SEO over the past year and a half. Those effort have paid off in increased traffic from other search engines. I get traffic from google, but only mostly from google images and local listings (google local).
My site is far from perfect, but it has alot more content and backlinks than some of my competition, yet they position better than I do in Google.
There are a couple competitors understandably will position better than me because of more backlinks from high PR sites, older, better SEO etc ...
