I have a site: www.example.com

but such as we are operating in <a certain market > we want that market keyword word in our url so we create market.example.com for the users to understand that we are that type of company. How do we make a safe redirection so that we do not get a penalty from google .

thanks a lot for all your answers.

A 301 permanent redirect from each of your www.example.com urls to their corresponding market.example.com url would be what you need. But all your rankings for www.example.com pages would go away and it would take some time (possibly months) for rankings to return to normal. This isn't a penalty, it's just the natural result of changing every url on your site.

There are several threads about changing your url structure and sitewide 301 redirects in our Hot Topics area [webmasterworld.com], which is always pinned to the top of this forum's index page.
