lots of people are wondering why their pages are dropping in and out of the index after Big Daddy. we are all assuming it is a bug, but i was wondering, maybe we are not giving Big Daddy enough credit.

i would imagine that they have collected so much data with their toolbars and other such stuff now, that they can predict when the traffic spikes on our site. and they also know where our visitors come from.

so if your site is mainly attracting visitors from the USA, for example, google might rank it higher when the US is awake. and when your traffic drops off at night, when america is asleep, google might raise the sites that benefit visitors from Europe and Asia instead, because they will be of more use to them.

I think it's much more likely that you are seeing different results by seeing different data centers at different times.

Having said that, the effects of Big Daddy rumble on - whatever Google tells you ;) - and there's rumors of a new 'serious update'.

We are moving into a period of constant change, which is unlikely to be a passing fad.

I have been noticing this now for about 2 weeks. There seem to be 2 sets of results circulating at the moment that I can see.

My guess is that Google are doing some A/B testing, and I'm hoping that the newer set sticks!

We were told about Everflux coming, and we know that Google does A/B testing of their results. I don't understand why more people don't attribute the current state of things to this.

Sure Google has had issues, but with the introduction of Everflux, I think we need to expect that things will forever fluctuate. The sooner we get used to it, the better.
