Any differentiation between widgets! and widgets?

Search differences between use of an exclamation point

Hi,

I'm optimizing a site that consists of a brand with an exclamation point , eg, "Widgets!". For branding purposes, I'm using the exclamation point in title tags and meta descriptions, but not for meta keywords. Throughout the site copy, the exclamation version is almost exclusively used.

SEO-wise, is there a risk to using the exclamation version vs just "Widgets"? Does Google (or other SEs) differentiate between the two?

Thanks,
Patrick

Hello patrick89, and welcome to the forums.

You're in luck here, because you can check by seeing how Google handles the search for "Yahoo!" versus "Yahoo". I can't see any differences.

I am seeing very slight differences between

"yahoo!" (with quotes)
yahoo!
and
yahoo

But these are very slight so it's probably not worth bothering about.
