Only Home Page Is Not Indexed

Hi Frnds

i hav a website..its fully optimized too...its all internal (86) webpages are cached in Google.

But only home page is not Cached...i have tried for all SEO Factors to be implemnted in it..But of no use..

Pls guide me what culd be possible reasons.

Did you use the NoArchive meta tag for Googlebot on your home page by any chance? That would tell Google not to cache that page.

Can we assume from your post that the homepage is not ranking?

Are you checking this in G, or Y Explorer?

Can you find it cached under any alternative URLs?

- domain.com/index.html
- www.domain.com/

Indeed, plus I'd still like to know what you're seeing in Y Site Explorer. It's not the browser (IE); what are you seeing in the Y index?

Set up a Google Webmaster account and set the preferred home page URL

Hmmm, a little strange that the homepage is in Y but not G.

But OK, some additional options:
- Is the site accessible with and without the "www" in the URL?,
- Is the page is too similar to another page on the site or on a different domain?
- Is the homepage is being duplicated via mishandled aff links?
- Is there an operating platform issue such that the homepage is not being handled properly, causing dup issues (especially common with ASP sites)?
- Are there any redirects involved with the homepage?
- Do you have a robots.txt file with instructions specific to Google?
- Are there technical issues that are making the homepage difficult to crawl?

I too have had this happen. The site ranked well for the phrases I cared about and then the host went offline for 6 days. When they were back online all my pages except the homepage were re-indexed in a couple weeks. Finally after 6 weeks I went to Google help for webmasters and posted my questions, a few days later a post from a Google employee saying it had been re-crawled and all was fine. I don't know if the post caused it to be re indexed but it's worth a try.

Yes the homepage(www.abc.net) is similar to the same theme website but with differnt domain its with (www.abc.com)

i hav redirected my .net domain on .com and on .com version i hav placed the link to homepage with .net extension.

i hope it works for me..as thru this my home page with .net ext will get crawled..
