Site wide links are dead?

Are site wide links considered dead or worthless? I ask because I have my blog on a different site than my website.

My concern is that I have a link in my website's header that leads to my blog, but if this is going to be worthless, then perhaps it is time to move to blog.mysite.com.

The blog has been up for a year, the site for 2 years (I wish I could go back and change it around!).

Thoughts?

It is believed that wide links won't help you with Google, although it truly is too tough to say.

One thing for sure, sitewides seem to be good for yahoo and msn. In your case, one link from your homepage to your blog should be sufficient....

I just got a spam email from a new website for an old-and-grumpy directory calling itself "leading business search engine"...hmmm..they must be in a need of fresh air, their office is so cramped they can't understand a difference between search engine and directory

anyhow, their newest creation, a "community" of "authors" on "business topics" :) haha, as spammy as it goes...like web needs another About . bomb. it is linked to across their whole directory...immediate PR7.
