Keywords not working for Google

My client uses all appropriate keywords for its site, but unfortunately when searching from Google, the site does not pop up in first top ten -- although other sites linking to the site pop-ups.

Has Google punished this site for some reason?

What needs to be changed?

<snip>

Thanks.

Hello trinetizen, and welcome to the forums.

While having the search words appear on the page is certainly part of what it takes to rank, there is alot more going on with Google today.

Google uses hundreds of factors to determine ranking - and the combination of them all, plus the occasional areas of "bad results" can make it all quite mysterious. So answering your question directly is not possible - at least not in one thread. It's going to take you studying and learning and experimenting.

A good place to start would be the threads in our Hot Topics [webmasterworld.com], which is always pinned to the top of this forum's index page.
