You are seeing the effects of geo-location. All of the major search engines give a lot of weight to geo-location in their ranking methods. The idea is that the closer a website is to a user, the more relevant it is for searches made by that user. It appears from your message that Google believes that your site has a geo-location of Canada, so that's why it ranks much better in Google.ca than it does in Google.com. If your domain name ends in .ca, then it will always be considered to be located in Canada. If you have a generic Top Level Domain name like .com, .net, .info, or .org, then you can get your geo-location changed by moving your site to a server that is located in the target country. For example, to do better in Google.com, you would move your site to a US-based hosting service. To do better in Google.co.uk, you'd move to a UK-based host. And so on. But again, this only works on generic Top Level Domain names.

If changing your site's geo-location isn't practical for some reason, you can overcome the influence of geo-location by making your site stronger overall in the search engines by getting more relevant links and adding fresh, original content.

But my site is located in USA instead of Canada.

Why our site is only ranked in google.ca?

I cannot understand.

Study the domains that beat you in the US results but then vanish in the .ca results. You've probably got less competition in Canada. Backlinks may also play in here, if you've got a good number from Canadian sites. Another possibility is if you are on a shared IP address and other sites on that IP are related to Canada, or if your Home Page mentions Canada in some way.

Does your domain appear when you tick the "pages from Canada" button? That would be worth checking.

When you are on google.ca there's a radio button right under the textbox where you enter your search term

No, the "pages from Canada" button was not ticked when our domain appear.

Only "the web" button is selected....

So I am confused.....

So does your site also rank when "pages from Canada" is checked?

If "pages from Canada" is checked, then our site is not ranked. Our site cannot be found if select button "pages from Canada".

How to explain this?

Thanks.

I'd say that confirms that you are not mistakenly geo-located as being in Canada.

If your site has done well ever since Florida AND If you are seing this for the past 10 days or so I believe that you can read what people say about the Google September SERP changes.

Also check other Google tld's and see what happens.

On a couple of our sites we are also victims of the same thing:

> We kept our (legitimate) rankings or improved but only where we do NOT promote and where we can't even sell.

> On Google.com we've been replaced by a bunch of low class websites, especially blogs in German, Spanish and other languages

Our servers are in the US, always have been, sites in English only.
It's like the SERP's are completely the opposite of what they logically 'should' be.

If you have incoming links.... you may want to check to see who you are exchanging links with...

You may be exchanging links with CA and UK sites or you may have some CA & UK sites linking to you.

Find more US based .com links and you should be able to rank on the Us search without a problem.

It appears from your message that Google believes that your site has a geo-location of Canada, so that's why it ranks much better in Google.ca than it does in Google.com.

Not accurate, a lack of links from high rankings US based sites is likely the issue. Canada based results are much less competitive.

Hi,

"a lack of links from high rankings US based sites is likely the issue"

What is "high rankings US based sites"? Does it mean the website is hosted in USA or the site content is about USA?

Or need both? Both the site contents should be about USA and the site is hosted in USA?

How to find such kind of links?

Thanks.

Yep, you have backlinks from either:

A) Candian tld's
B) Canadian IP's

Then how we can get links from "US based sites"?

What do "US based sites" mean? It means IP is in USA or contents about USA? Or need both? (means need IP is in USA and contents about USA?)

How to get such kind of links? Now if for some important keywords, always big players are at the top, it is almost impossible to get links from such big players............

Link development is a major topic - so major it has its own forum here. Looks to me like the Google Search part of your question is answered, and that is this forum's purpose. At this point I suggest some study of the Link Development forum and library. There are a lot of ideas already available there.
