Separate Sitemaps accounts for client sites?

I set up most of my sites in google sitemaps. The diagnostic info is pretty useful. I only submitted one sitemap for one of the sites.

I also have a number of websites for my clients. I am a little leery of including them under my sitemaps group. I think it might be better to have each client have their own google account and set up their site in sitemaps that way.

I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this.

Again, I'm a bit paranoid about listing my client's websites in with my websites.

thanks
chris

The program is relatively new and it's hard for me to say anything definitive -- you are, I assume, concerned about all the accounts being "tarred with the same brush" I assume, if one of them gets too frisky or even accidentally trips a switch at Google - even if it's Google's error and there's no real wrongdoing.

I think Google makes the master account possible as a convenience. If you are concerned about it, then having each client use their own dedicated account makes sense to me -- and might make things easier if any of them leave their relationship with you.

Caveat: I am not a Sitemaps "expert" in any way, but I thought you asked a good question and wanted to move the discussion along. Anyone else?

You can add a the same sitemap to the same domain under several different accounts. You'll just need to upload a seperate verification file for each account. So you could have a master account with all of your clients in it and then set up each of your clients with a google log in so that they can view their individual site's stats.

Excellent question, cgmendla.

I would add one thing which, for some reason, is rarely mentioned. Google Sitemaps is labled "Beta".

Each client should be apprised of that individually and have the opportunity to accept or decline the inherent risk.

Besides, it's infinitely better to mention that beforehand as a caution than afterwards as a defense.
