Will a Rapid Page Increase Affect SERP's Negatively?

For the past year our online store had 1,200 products and about 1,600 total pages in Google. Now we are about to add 600 new, related products. Will such a significant increase (50%) in site pages virtually overnight have a negative impact on our SERP's?

We are wondering if a slower product rollout would have a different effect than a faster rollout.

Any thoughts on this?

Google spokespeople have mentioned this factor, but with numbers in the tens or hundreds of thousands of new pages. Six hundred seems pretty modest and not very likely to cause trouble, IMO - still, who can say for sure. I know that some people here have reported trouble with launching signifcant percantage jumps in total pages overnight. It's just that I've never seen it.

I'm speculating here, but part of the answer might revolve around how often your site gets crawled now.

Stretching the roll-out over a longer time frame might not make much difference if the site and new pages don't get crawled in between uploads of new page groups.

Adding hundreds of new internal pages could easily affect the flow of Page Rank within your site, and that could cause some rankings to shift.

Give careful thought to your internal link structure to make sure your most important pages still get the lion's share of the Page Rank circulating within your site.

And always, cultivate more inbound links.

We had a 1000 page site that we turned into a 2000 page site in July. We had one week where we slipped in the serps but then we shot up even higher. Just make sure its unique content on those pages.
