Dear all,

My website is currently running on Windows Platform, however, its cons are:

- Does not support Mod_rewrite for Wordpress
- Offer less security for PHP site, slow-speed for forum

Then I decide to change the platform to Linux, and my question here is:

Will it affect my current ranking? Any pros and cons for Linux platform?

Best,

Lkr

If all the URLs stay the same for all the pages then Google will not see any changes to be worried about.

You will have better control over domain canonicalisaion issues, and be able to set up redirects for duplicates.

Just done it.

No effect on traffic/ranking at all.

Just remember to leave your old site up until you see all your traffic has migrated to the new server.

If you are going to start using mod_rewrite, does that imply your URLs are going to change?

When you ask about pros and cons, are you only interested in effects on ranking, or broader issues?

Watch our for upper and lower case problems! Unix is case sensitive, Microsoft ignores case. This can be a big problem if you used mixed case in your page or pathnames.
