What work should be done to force images on top of the SERP's

Hi,
From Past two months i found one new thing in google results that is images ontop of the search results for some keywords.
i have tried to bring my images on the top of the SERP's But i failed to do so, but iam very interested in this topic to discuss, how to bring images on the top of the SERP's kindly let me know.

Your views,suggetsions ,opinins,ideas or most welcome - what work should be done to force images on top of the SERP's

You are talking about the regular Search Results (Universal Results), correct? If so, depending on the keyword, it can take a major amount of link popularity. But even before that, I would start by using the keyword both as the image name, and in nearby content.

Universal Search is still relatviely new, and I'm not sure that the algo is stable, or that anyone has a real handle on it yet. Any succes stories or other pointers out there? Does hotlinking to the image from other domains help?

Very interesting question with hotlinking. That would turn hotlinking from something to prevent into something to encourage.

edit:

I just did an image search for a couple searches very closely related to a couple images I know are hotlinked from my domain. My image/domain didn't come up. How do you access this universal search?

Universal Search is Google's name for their recently expanded regular results - where the algorithm includes images, videos, news, local results, Google maps, etc, in the regular SERP, as the algorithm deems appropriate for any given search.
