Has anyone hosted there images remotely at amazon s3 and had them indexed on Google image search? Is there a setting at amazon that you have to change to allow the bots to index the images? I'm wondering if Amazon does this on purpose so as to save bandwidth costs unless you ask them to allow the bots. Is this how it works, or is there some other way that you go about getting Google to index the images?

This is a good question. I'd assume that any images you hope to bring you search traffic would be better hosted locally, and not on S3, but I have no direct experience and cannot locate any good references.

How about for the bot UA you alias image path to local?

Google is indexing Amazon S3 hosted content, see [google.com...]

Yes, that includes images [images.google.com...]
