I've been watching the BD posts for a while now, people talking about different DCs showing different results, they seem to have been going on for quite a while now.
I'm no expert on this as I've only really been involved in SEO for six months, but here are my findings for BD - which I believe back up the OPs statement.
For the last 3 to 4 weeks I have noticed a steady increase in traffic on my site. Only a 10% increase over the 4 weeks yet a steady increase none the less.
This evening the increase was tracked down to a specific keyword for Google results. 4 Weeks ago the site ranked #4 on Google across all DCs for that keyword, over those 4 weeks according to McDar Google dance tool, we bounced backwards and forwards between #4 and #3. Tonight we rank #3 across all DCs for that keyword.
I believe that BD has settled as we are now in the same position across all DCs according to McDar. Unfortunately that means the traffic increase for that keyword is now over too!
On the upside, the Hurricanes have just beaten the Waratahs in Sydney and will host them next week back home in Wellington. Go the Canes!
Cheers JB
The DCs are now all running on the BD infrastrucure and have been for ages. What I find most surprising and disappointing is that none of the DCs are showing any signs of experimental tweaks, designed to counter the dropped pages problem. You'd have thought that by now, they'd be experimenting with things and that occasionaly you'd see a DC here and there with all of the missing pages back in play (even if only fleatingly).
Tells me, they are nowhere near tracking down the cause of the problem and, quite possibly, not even trying.
Google's superior "coverage" used to be one of their main competative advantages. I'm staggered that they have allowed this problem to go unchecked for so long. How long before their coverage is the worst of the bunch? Might have happened already.
Havong said that the number of Google results for the keyword varies between 5 mill and 7 mill.
So may be it's not over.
