Indexing New Sites - home page vs. internal pages

I am finding that Google is picking up on new websites very quickly and indexing the home page. I also find that it is taking quite some time to index the other pages of the website even if the google spider comes back rather frequently.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Yes, googlebot seems to take things bit by bit. Even for a new site of only a few score pages, spidering and indexing doesn't happen all at once. And this summer, it did seem to slow down a bit as well, compared to spring's pace.

tedster,

thanks for the reply. At least im not alone. A new site i put up has 26 pages. As of yesterday only the home page was indexed. Today it got 2 more pages. Hopefully it will pick up a few per day.

From my view it's not just new sites. I put several four or five page articles over the last two months on well-established sites and Google indexes the first page of the article but not the others. Slowly, but oh so slowly, they get indexed.

its sort of strange because blogs, they index in minutes.
