How does the algo treat in-site links in drop down menus?

Does having beaucomp links on a drop down dilute my page strength?

Does the algo treat in-site links from a drop down the same as regular href's? I have a giant city-listing drop down in thousands of pages on my site and I'm wondering if I'm diluting my page strength with them.

I attended SES in NYC and I am pretty sure the speaker said that drop downs were not the best. Neither are image maps. You need to remember that the spiders are text driven - not script driven.

If you absolutely need java driven navigation tools, place redundant text links at the bottom of the page.

Also, keep in mind that not everyone is web-aware like you. There are many people who do not know what to do with a drop down box:

ex:

*************
Drop Down Box

If the links are inside normal HTML code then they are seen and followed. The position and visibility in browsers can be controlled by Javascript. That is not an issue.

If the links are written to the browser screen using Javascript then they are not going to be generally visible to bots nor will they be spidered. Bots don't do javascript.

"View Source" will show you what you need to know.
