A table appeared up the top allowing me to refine the search by selecting "additional terms", "audience type" or "information type."
Selecting any adds "more:___" to the search field.
... Curiouser and curiouser thought Alice.
More what?
When I do the search more:search term for a very specific product in our small niche market it brings up the sites of large mass market providers that don't supply the specific product searched for.
It looks like more: is more authority at the expense of relevence. It would be better if it said less: ;)

I can't get it to activate reliably, but I've taken a few screenshots for reference.
There are heaps of "more:____" style searches.
When you add "more:____", unless you're seeing a table at the top of the results it isn't filterirng the results in the same way as when a table does show up atop the SERPs.
OK, now I get it, say I search for <<blue widgets >> and then search for
<<blue widgets more:blue>> I get results skewed towards blue. This works very well.
However if I search for <<more:blue widgets>> on its own I get very general not terribly relevant results.
Apologies to others reading this thread and particularly to Google, this is a very good idea and I jumped in too fast to damn it. Sorry.
Best wishes
Sid
