How does google treat pages that no content is updated on them but you only replace an image.

Let's say you have 100 pages and on all those pages you use images for your navigation for example, let's say you update your "home" image - will google think that all 100 pages have been updated?

malinkacc - I think that Google likes to conserve its resources, and may have a way of looking at file properties on updated pages before crawling to see if they appear to have changed sufficiently to merit crawling. But I'm not sure.

It's very likely, though, that a page wouldn't get a freshness boost for a small mechanical change like this.

On the other hand, also wouldn't see a "too much tinkering" drop, I think.

I've been using an image with different text phrases to see which convert better, swapping them back and forth. Something I'd be very reluctant to do with regular text.
