got 2 domains in different languages which point to 1 site that has bi lingual content.

how will the search engines react to this? are they gonna get penalized for dupe content?

i envision each domain will get backlinks in its own language. anyone else have any experience on how this works with the search engines/google?

1 domain is parked on top of the other.

thanks

If I understand your situation correctly, you have a domain in language-A and a domain in language-B, plus a third domain that combines the content of both. If that's the situation, you are duplicating content and you do have the chance of seeing some pages filtered out of search results -- but that's not a penalty.

What are you currently seeing with your IDNs (Internationalized Domain Names with non-ASCII characters)? Is Google handling them smoothly?

1 domain is parked on top of the other.

That is not clear to me. Is there a 301 redirect, some other kind of redirect, both domains resolve to the same content?

hi

thanks for the reply.

there is one site in two languages with an ascii and idn domain pointing at the site. the site is hosted under the ascii domain and the idn is parked on top - no redirect just a dns entry.

as i will be getting incoming links in both languages i was wondering how google will dupe content penalty me - will the ascii content show up in the us google and the idn language get filtered and vice versa.

the site is still being built and im just wanting some advice or thoughts to build in at the get go rather than having to retroactively fix stuff.

Two domains that return the same content, both with a status of "200 OK", is one form of Duplicate Content.

You need either one language on each domain, or for one domain to serve a 301 redirect to the one that you want to be indexed.
