How to reconcile the two?

How do you guys deal with the fact that long lists (200 products) need to be broken up into separate pages so that fewer list items (25 products) appear on a single page for ease-of-use, and the fact that you want to spread PageRank to as many product pages as possible to keep them from becoming Supplemental?

List the products on a well linked-to sitemap, or categorical hierarchy sitemap.

You dont need multiple versions of paginated pages ranking, in fact in lieu of duplication it's not likely they will.

Ok, sounds like it's time to get serious about sitemaps. How many links will Google follow on a single page?

Hi Tonearm, I generally put about 50 product links per site map page. I also make sure each page is unique by making the title and meta description unique. Hope this helps.

But doesn't that create the same pagination problem that the sitemap is there to solve?
