Is a Partial Google Sitemap OK? - for blog but not the main site

Hi

I have a complex website and I’m pushing on getting a dynamic XML sitemap but unfortunately developers can’t do it for a few months. Politics….

In the mean time I want to install a plugin for our blog that generates a dynamic sitemap and submit it to Google. My question is if I do this could my blog pages carry more weight than my main pages. Obviously I don’t want this to happen.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The xml sitemap involved with with ranking - it's only an extra help for googlebot in its spidering. The sitemap doesn't even tell Google "only index these URLs".
