Why would Google cache our company page as our home page "/"?

We now have unwanted dupicate content, and "/" is dropping off the map.

This could be a Google error, or it could be some kind of misfire from your server. Dealing with as much data as Google does, errors can and do happen -- but our servers are not 100% either.

Do you have a Webmaster Tools account for this domain? If so, you may find useful information in there. If not, I'd advise setting one up and authenticating yourself as the person responsible for the domain. This gives you a trusted channel to send messages to Google, and the possibility of getting their help to sort out the problem, via the "Reconsideration Request."
