I just had several pages on a clients site get deindexed and grey barred. I have checked everything and there should be no problem with anything. The only thing all the pages have in common is they are all built on the same format. All are html pages and share one css file., Each has seperate distinct meta descriptions and keywords. All have different content in H1 tags.
Basically they all display jpegs and information for the products. Green widgets, red widgets. But the content and details are vastly different for each page. I removed identical footers on each page months ago to avoid that penalty.
Is this a big daddy hiccup or is this some kind of penalty. All of these pages have disappeared from google and grey barred pr. Happened night before last.
Anyone else have an experience with this? This is not an affiliate site. Big ticket items. Dealership. Site for a brick and mortar business. We now have no product pages listed in google. And we had just started to come out of the sandbox.

Many, many websites have common format pages like you describe and have no problem with it, especially when there is different descriptions on each page as you describe.

Google can be very grouchy about hidden text these days.

This site is completely white hat. No hidden text. I don't even have but the bare minimum in the alt tags. Each page has two outgoing links to authority sites to expand on the knowledge of these products.
Supposed to be everything google wants.

I think this happened to me like 8 months ago as well. Some of my highest quality content sites all got banned (about 10 of them). I got one of them back reindexed, but the others are all gone.

They all used the same format, can't think of anything else.

If each of the pages has less than a few dozen words, and there are thousands of similar pages then there may be "nothing worth indexing" to be found... (as far as Google goes).

They sure have kept a 404 page alive for 10 months. Why didn't they kill that?
