I have been messing with searchmash.com since it was launched. [webmasterworld.com]

How's it looking for you these days?

I'm glad you brought this topic up - I took a look way back when and then promptly forgot about it. A second look has me very pleased with the way that the video, blogs, images etc are organized. As far as I'm concerned it beats the Universal Search approach.

One point of note -- Wikipedia is sorted out as a search sub-category equal to video, etc. That's pretty dramatic.

Nice reminder, searchmash was something I had long forgotten about. I actually said in the original thread I liked it.

After using it on a few searches for five minutes I may switch to using it for a week as I prefer the layout with the catagory sections down the right and the much cleaner feel it offers.

One search I tried seen a ranking phrase I have getting kicked into 2nd place behind, well of course, Wiki but after a quick datacenter check it's #1 as usual on the main google results, which led me to wonder what's different about the algo being used on searchmash? Is it a lot different for searches anyone else has tried?

I'm getting an "Oops, we're busy right now! Please try again later" message. Could it be that this little thread has overloaded it? I'll keep trying... sounds good.

Here's a link to it...
