Blogs Results and Related Searches - not geotargeted (UK) and not changing

As Universal Search rolls out we have noticed that the relevancy of the blog results at the foot of the SERPs on Google UK is poor as these are currently coming from US and Canadian sites, why? Surely there are blogs in the UK that are able to populate these results?

I also posted previously on trying to understand where the Related Searches were coming from, and I am still not much wiser!

And these results don't seem to change which is odd. Does anyone have any thoughts on either of these?

In general, from many posts were seeing here, Google's geo-targetting in the UK seems to be problematic for many site owners. Perhaps those same problems are extended into the blogs and related searches area, too.

Google is trying here to help the end user. If these links are not really helpful, I suppose we can hope they measure that and fix something -- or we can click on the "Dissatisfied? Help us improve" link at the bottom of the SERP and give Google some feedback.
