Google.ca vs. Google.com

my US site started ranking high in .ca - I dont understand

I am located and registerd my domain with a usa address but i am ranking top 3 for most of my keywords on google.ca
I dont understand how this happend, i have been doing link exchanges with .com sites and want results in google.com. The company i am getting hosting from is located in Canada could this have something to do with it? Any ideas...thanks.

I've been told on good authority that it does... that using a Canadian host will give a .com high Canadian rankings.

What I don't know is whether Canadian hosting will in any way hurt you on your US rankings, either now or down the line if Google localizes more.
