Homepage both supplemental and non-supplemental under the same URL!

When I look at this search:

site:www.example.com *** -view

(To get the supplemental results) I can see this:

Title
Description
www.example.com/ - 50k - Supplemental Result - Cached - Similar pages

When I do this search:

site:www.example.com

I get this result:

Title
Description
www.example.com/ - 50k - Supplemental Result - Cached - Similar pages

The same result!

My homepage is BOTH in the supplemental and the non-supplemental index.

- I have set a preferred domain in webmaster tools quite some time ago (12/06)
- non-www version redirects to www. version via a standard 301
- When looking at the cache, it gives the same date/time in the cache for both these listings

Any ideas what's happening here?

Try inurl: instead.
