Can't add URL in Google Webmaster Tools due to 404 error (now fixed)

Does anyone have any experience trying to submit a URL using the Google Webmaster Tools ... only to see that Google thinks your page doesn't exist (404 error)?

In my case, the first attempt to submit a URL of the form http://www.example.com/page was seen by Google as http://www.example.com/page/ which did return a 404.

That was fixed so that both versions now work. But alas, Google still thinks the page is 404.

Could this be a caching problem?

Welcome to the forums, Mydaho.

How long have you been waiting since you fixed the url on your server? (Webmaster Tools sometimes seems to get stuck and works only in fits and starts.)
