Additional Navigation to Subdirectory Sitemaps, will Google react bad?

Would this be bad in Googles eyes?

One of our websites, actually our most powerful website has become so big over the years we wanted to offer additional browsing options for our users.

We have thousands of subdirectories buried 3 levels down in the site, while these subs are well categorized from the top level down we wanted to offer our users a quick way to pan through all of the subdirectories pages at once for a given category.

Would adding 8 links sitewide to what would basically each be a sitemap page highlighting all of the subdirectories to that given section cause any problems with Google?

This is a pretty big change for us even though it really wouldnt impact the sites look or feel and just offer our users a quicker way to view all of the subdirectories at once in a given category. I didnt know if this would be frowned up for some reason or another by Google and would like to know if anyone else here knows.

It's very hard to answer this question in any definitive way. If you mean that every page would get an additional 8 links,(but a different set of lionks in each major section) here are the questions I would want to evaluate:

1. How many links already exist on each page?

2. How will the new links appear to the user - as 8 more choices that are apparently "on the same level" as the other navigation, or set off in a seperate section?

3. What link text would these new navigation helpers use? - I think you should be cautious about too much re-use of keywords and phrases that are important to your site's traffic and already doing well.
